Brothers Noel and Peter Robinson were born in England and sold their furniture manufacturing business there prior to moving to the United States in 1989. Robinson and Robinson was founded in 1989 and in that year commenced manufacturing leather upholstered furniture in Tijuana, Mexico.
The company has grown every year since its inception and today, employs over 2,000 people, owns over 1 million square feet of custom manufacturing plant, including a high quality wood mill and a bespoke foam conversion plant.

In October 2006, Robinson & Robinson acquired upholstery specialist Richter Designs. The Los Angeles-based company is now a division of Robinson & Robinson. Richter Designs specializes in producing up-market upholstery products catering to lifestyle retailers like Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Williams-Sonoma Home and Z-Gallerie.
