Schnadig International Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Markor International Furniture Co., Ltd, a world class furniture manufacturing and furniture retail operation based in China. The acquisition of Schnadig by Markor was completed on January 5th, 2009. Incorporated in 1952 by Lawrence K. Schnadig, the company has a solid foundation beginning with the merging of S. Karpen & Brothers, which was established in 1880, and International Furniture Company, which was founded at the turn of the twentieth century.
The focus of our reputation is integrity, fashion, quality and value. Despite our size, we try to maintain an intimacy with each of our retailers and employees. Our customers and employees are considered members of the extended Schnadig family and are treated as such. We have maintained our warm relationships while building a successful business that is financially strong.
Lawrence K. Schnadig was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career in the cost estimating department of Pullman Coach Company, which his father co-founded. He also worked as a sales representative in the Chicago area and, at the age of 39, became Pullman's President. The Pullman Coach Company was sold in 1951. In 1952, Mr. Schnadig purchased and combined S. Karpen & Brothers and International Furniture Company, to form Schnadig Corporation.
Leadership in styling, technology and value are the backbone of our success. Schnadig Corporation began as an upholstered manufacturing company and entered the table business in the 1980's, enabling it to offer furniture for a full living room and family room. The "room concept" was later extended to the dining room and bedroom as well.
In addition to his founding of the Schnadig Corporation, Lawrence Schnadig was active in both civic and industry affairs. He acted as Chairman of the Board from the time he formed the company in 1951 and maintained a special relationship with both his customers and employees until his death in June of 1997. His son-in-law, Donald Belgrad is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer today.
Our mission is to help consumers create beautiful homes through distinctive products and unique designs for living room, dining room and bedroom furnishings.
Our frames are made with a combination of kiln-dried wood and engineered wood products that are assembled utilizing interlocking joints, dowels, glue and staples to produce a superior quality internal structure. Corner Blocks and Support Blocks are used for additional strength and durability.
The seat foundation is constructed with 8-1/2 gauge sinuous wire springs that are connected together by a cross wire to provide leveled support and comfort. Double springing is used on all arm ends to reinforce the support in that area. All springs and clips used in our products have rust resistant finish to prolong life of the product.
Seat cushions are made with the finest quality products. Our products are made with seat cushion systems that consist of layers of high density foam used in conjunction with layers of fiber to provide the ultimate seating comfort.
Fabrics selected for our products are put through a series of 11 tests to determine Seam Strength, Wearability, overall Strength, and amount of Stretch. These tests are recommended by the American Society for Testing Standard. Schnadig is a part of the AFMA (American Furniture Manufacturer Association) which determines the test standards for the furniture industry. Our fabrics are also UFAC (Upholstered Furniture Action Council) tested.
Schnadig backs its Limited Lifetime Warranty on frames and springs. Cushions, sleeper mechanisms, and our standard mattress come with a five year warranty. Schnadig provides a ten year warranty on its premium mattress and a one year warranty on all fabrics. Tables come with a Quality Limited Warranty.
